Why does my hitch rack wobble?

Often when we see hitch racks wobble, either the hitch bolt is not tight enough, or it's not properly installed.  Lift up gently to relieve some of the weight of the rack from the receiver bar to ensure it's threading in completely.  

Note: different racks require different orientation of the Hitch Bolt.  The Door County and MTR racks require the bolt head to be on the right, or passenger side of the vehicle, and all of other hitch racks require the bolt head to be on the left, or driver side of the vehicle.  

If this is a Freedom EX2 or Superclamp EX2 and the hitch bolt is tight and properly installed: 

There will always be some movement specifically with the EX2 racks, especially as time goes on.  This is due to the open “element style hinge,” as there is room between either side of the inner component and the outer.  The movement is not indicative of a mechanical issue, but more of an inherent effect from this style of hinge mechanism.  This is normal and not indicative of an issue or defect.  For confirmation of normal tolerance, feel free to reach out to Customer Support at 1-800-783-7257 or support@saris.com.
