No. As an example, the Rouvy app will allow you to use the trainer in the “free ride” mode for 60 minutes at a time. Free Ride will allow you to manually increase and decrease the resistance as you ride, and will give you all the metrics you are looking for such as power, cadence, and ride distance.
Similarly, if you have a head unit that is ANT+ FE-C compatible, such as the Garmin 510, 520, 820, 1000, or Fenix3, you can use that to control the Hammer or Magnus trainers.
