I Need to Replace the Top Hold-Downs on My Bones Rack. Why Won’t the Replacement Rack Straps on the Accessory Page Work?

I have a new saris bones 2. One of the straps is not connected to the bike rack frame. Can I do this manually or should the rack have come fitted with it.

I find it crazy that these top straps aren't replaceable.  I guess my only option is to buy a replacement arm?  I bought a Bones 2 used, and while it was pointed out there was one broken strap, I never would have thought it can't be easily replaced.  That's a pretty bad design.  There had to have been an alternative to locking those straps in when injection molding the arms.  I'm thinking a couple sturdy rubberized straps crisscrossed may work.

I love my bones2, but designing the top straps so that they can’t be replaced is simply a rip-off. I can’t believe you would deliberately screw customers that way. Mine are shot and need replaced. Guess I’ll just look for a different brand. Damned if I’m gonna let you screw me twice.

Any help / responses to any of your SARIS RATCHETING top of arm hold downs, or ANTI-SWAY STRAP replacement questions?

The plastic straps are like a static climbing rope. They break under stress.

The J-Hook straps are like a dynamic rope. They will give under load. And they are cheap and can be replaced.

Why can you not offer a replacement for the Bones top straps? I cannot buy a new Bones 2 just because 2 small plastic parts broke.

I have two Bones 2 top straps that broke and need to be replaced. That means I have two straps still intact but in the wrong position. The rack would work for one bike if I could remove and reattach just one strap in a different position. Is there a workaround for this? Otherwise, I have the same complaint about poor design found in each of the above comments.
