Why aren't trunk racks approved for my car?

If no trunk racks show up and only hitch racks are displayed when checking the Online Fit Guide, that indicates through fit testing, we've determined mounting a trunk rack was either unsafe and/or could risk damage to the vehicle.  Some disqualifiers for approved fit include glass being near hook placement, weather stripping interference, strap load on spoilers/third brake light shrouding, and soft/unsupported mounting surfaces.  We cannot recommend trunk racks are used when we note these characteristics, and would only recommend hitch style racks.

We perform thorough in-person and on-car rack application for each vehicle when completing fit testing.  We mount, poke, prod, push, and pull the racks and mounting surface for assessment, and only recommend a rack if safe and effective operation can be ensured.
